Location: Openings are at various locations in Metro Denver
Type: Part Time and Full-Time
Pay rate: $14.77 per hour
Assisting teachers support the lead teacher in the planning, organizing and delivery of a developmentally appropriate preschool program based on the individual cognitive, motor, social and emotional needs of children enrolled. This person will assist the classroom teacher in managing the classroom to create a positive, healthy and safe learning.
Responsibilities include for Teacher Assistant, Staff Aide or Floater:
Assist with all aspects of the daily routine, including distributing and collecting supplies, keeping attendance records, serving snacks / lunches and maintaining classroom cleanliness
Assist with the implementation of effective child guidance techniques; define and communicate appropriate limits and boundaries for children, ensure smooth transitions between activities
Be flexible and adaptable to changing classroom conditions
May be assigned to different classrooms and ages of children to ensure appropriate teacher/child ratios
Maintain a clean classroom environment, wash and disinfect tables after snacks / meals, art projects and other classroom activities throughout the day, pick up toys, books and other materials, keep floors and sleeping areas free of debris, sweep floors, clean counters and cabinets as needed to ensure a safe and healthy environment
Follow directions of the classroom teacher working one-to-one or in small groups with children
Assist with the implementation of the Montessori inspired approach in the classroom
Floating Teacher: Qualified as an Early Childhood Teacher in the State of CO (completed 101 or 103 and another ECE class)
Teacher Aide/Assistant or On-call Substitute Teacher: High School or GED. Experience working with young children preferred.
Additional qualifications for Teacher Assistant:
Experience working with young children
Early Childhood Teacher Qualified in the State of Colorado
Bilingual Spanish, Arabic, Amharic (preferred)
Ability to work a full time work week, Monday through Friday & occasional evening meetings
